For heritage lovers, the waterfront suburb Bellerive is perfect for a stroll through yesteryear. The picturesque village offers panoramic views of Hobart city and Mt Wellington from its marina and esplanade. Explore Bellerive’s beautiful historic homes by walking its streets from the marina to the beach. Walk up to Kangaroo Bluff Fort historic site, and discover how Queen Battery was built to support the Battery Point battery in protecting Hobart from enemy ships in the 1880s. The guns were never fired in anger and the peaceful location is today a wonderful site for a picnic. Return to the village for a meal and a stroll along the boardwalk by the marina. Bellerive is also home to Tasmania’s only international cricket ground, the Bellerive Oval. Bellerive Village is linked to the Wrest Point Casino, Hobart Wharf and the Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens by a regular passenger ferry.
